Enrolment

BANNER-1

Thank you for considering the Canberra College for your senior secondary education in 2009.  We always welcome enquiries from prospective students and their parents/carers to discuss enrolment, the range of courses we offer, college life, pastoral care and future pathways. Please call the college on (02) 620 55777 to arrange a personal meeting with one of our Deputy Principals or Student Services team.

The enrolment process for all ACT Government Colleges is centrally coordinated by the ACT Department of Education and Training.  You can enrol online through the following website: http://www.det.act.gov.au/school_education/choosing_a_school/college_placements

The closing date for enrolment in year 11 for 2009 is Friday, June 20, 2008.   Applications received on, or prior to, Friday, June 20, 2008 are considered first and prospective students in the Priority Enrolment Area (PEA) are given preference.

The PEA for the Canberra College includes the suburbs: Chapman, Chifley, Curtin, Duffy, Farrer, Fisher, Garran, Holder, Hughes, Kambah (PEA also for Lake Tuggeranong College), Isaacs, Lyons, Mawson, Mt Stromlo, O'Malley, Pearce, Phillip, Rivett, Stirling, Torrens, Uriarra, Waramanga and Weston.  For a map of all PEAs, please click here. Applications submitted after Friday, June 20, 2008 will not be considered until all applications received by the closing date have been through the placement and appeals process. This will occur by the end of October 2008 and will continue thereafter until the census date in February 2009.

Applicants who apply after Friday, June 20, 2008 will not have Priority Enrolment Area status and placement at the requested college will depend on vacancies.

You will need the following information to complete the application process:

  • Your student ID number (if you are currently studying at an ACT government high school)
  • Your residential address. This needs to be the same as that recorded on the ACT Government high schools database, or for students currently at a non-government school, the White Pages telephone directory. Alternatively, if your residential address cannot be confirmed in this way, you must send verification to Director of Schools Southern Canberra, PO Box 1584 Tuggeranong ACT 2901.
  • Your parent or guardian's address, if this is not the same as your address.
  • Your parent's telephone numbers – home, work, mobile
  • College choice – if you are not currently residing in the Priority Enrolment Area for the college you must include a second choice.
  • All the courses you intend to study
  • Your reasons for applying for a college if you reside outside the Priority Enrolment Area.

Once again, thank you for considering the Canberra College. If you have any questions, please call on (02) 620 55777.
