Managing hazardous materials in ACT public schools

Many ACT public schools were built at a time when products containing asbestos and lead paint were commonly used in the building industry.

To help our school communities understand how the ACT Government is safely managing these hazardous materials in our public schools, we’ve published a range of new resources and information on the Education Directorate website.

There’s a new webpage on hazardous materials, a detailed fact sheet on lead paint and a list of all schools with known hazardous materials.

Remember each school on the list has a record of where hazardous materials are located and how they are being managed.  This record is called a Hazardous Materials Register, it is kept at the front office and is available to the public.
